Reconstruction of Havlíčkovo Square, Havlíčkův Brod

Public spaces and urban planning

Havlíčkovo Square is the natural centre of the historic core of the town, which dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. The new design had to respect the already existing traffic situation, where a significant traffic load is routed diagonally across the square. The design itself is consistent with a preference for pedestrian movement through the square. All areas are paved with natural stone – mainly local Lipnitz granite. Most of the furnishing elements are atypical, the fountain springs are bronze. The design also includes a covered summer scene.
