The Smetanovo Square is a large open space that was left after the redevelopment of the historic buildings at the end of the 1970s between the new prefabricated housing estate and the historic core of the city. The overall reconstruction of the square in 2018 included the restoration of the central park, including the reconstruction of the paved areas around it. The park is a clearly defined green rectangular area divided by diagonals of natural paths. The most important element of the design is the water, a gateway from the historic well that flows through the entire area.
